Development and Experimentation
As a process driven creative practitioner I allow making to guide the direction of a project. I avoid setting a predetermined scale, format, process, materials and imagery, as these factors are investigated during experimentation.
A large volume of prints were made through silkscreen, cyanotype and gel plate printing. I chose these processes as they embody the themes and research well due to their tactile and repetitive features. Despite the serious subject matter, play and experimentation were an integral part of the project’s development. I need to make to understand the subject matter through materials and processes.
A collection of materials were used to freely explore and deconstruct ideas in the research. Over 200 pieces were created over the course of the project.
